Habitat Loss: where do our loyalties lie? With rodents or with cats?

For better understanding of this post- please refer to this article:

In a new study, the results show that cats may kill up to 3.7 billion birds and 20.7 billion mammals each year. Stray cats are most likely the reason for the many deaths of the species- there are about 30 million to 80 million feral cats in the US that are capable of killing up to 200 mammals a year alone. But domesticated cats were not excluded from this, and are too very guilty of killing many mammals to bring to their masters who they love and care deeply for. Pet cats (mine included) caused 258 million to 1.5 billion of the bird deaths and 571 million to 2.5 billion of the mammal deaths. Maybe the cause of this high number of deaths could be attributed to a cat's need to impress their masters. Cats have been known to bring gifts to show they loving masters- many times leaving these gifts to rot and decompose shortly after their life has been ended. Are these deaths something to worry about, or have they been helping keep the number of rodents and birds to a safe number? Would we rather have more cats running around the streets or more pigeons, rats, and rabbits parading around our feet pecking, nibbling and hopping around waiting for morsels of food? If it was up to me- cats would be seen as royalty!
